Trusting Through It All.

All of our lives we’ve had a plan handed to us. For example, the classes we take in school lead us down the path to graduate. In college, our classes are given to us as a blueprint for graduating with a certain degree. It seems that a plan has always been laid before us to achieve a goal. Then, life after college hits. We aren’t given a so-called blueprint for that season, but we are given the word of God. If we continuously turn to His word we will find the best guidance.

We most likely feel like free birds after graduation. What do we do now? We have a degree, but where do we go from there? If I’ve learned one thing after college, it’s to not be so fixed on one plan. Seasons come and seasons go. You may think you’re headed in one direction, but suddenly the Lord changes your course. That’s okay! Actually that’s really exciting! Embrace the unknown and the known because sometimes the twist in your plan is actually the best blessing. The Lord knows His plans for you much better than you do. He even tells us that in His Word. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV)

He is our hope. If we place our hope in Him, we can’t go wrong. My dad always prays this prayer and it has stuck with me throughout my life. “God don’t let me miss it, even if I miss it.” I love that because we may not know what to do at times. You may be asking, “God, what job do I take?, Where do you want me to be?, What do you want me to do?, Is this the right person for me to be with?” If you’re asking these questions, you’re in the right place. It shows that your dependence is found in the Father. He’s the best leader. If we ask Him, He will show us the way.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV)

I’m so thankful that we don’t have to lean on our own understanding, but we can place our trust in Him and His ways. Sometimes He may leave it up to you to choose, yet at times our plan isn’t what the Lord has in mind for our lives. It’s important for us to learn that His ways are higher and His plan for us is good because He is good. We must trust in Him through it all because He knows it all.

Throughout my current season, I have taken comfort in knowing that my future rests securely in His capable hands. That also takes the pressure off of having to figure everything out on my own. I’m so thankful I don’t have to have it all together. Remember the old song we used to sing as kids, “He’s got the whole world in his hands.” It’s true. That includes you and me.

“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” (Matthew 6:26 NIV)

So if you feel uncertain about what’s next, talk to the Father. He’s waiting with open ears and open arms ready to hear all of your concerns and questions. My prayer for you in this season is that He will lead you in the way everlasting for His name sake.

“For you are my rock and my fortress; and for your name’s sake you lead me and guide me.” (Psalm 31:3 ESV)
